Manoir Blackswan is a private estate for mansion weddings in Châteauguay, on the South Shore of Montreal, thirty minutes from downtown and easily reached from across the Montérégie. It hosts one wedding at a time: for two nights and three days, the Manoir, the gardens and the team are yours.
How it unfolds
The estate is yours. You settle in, wander through the bedrooms, gather in the kitchen or by the fireplace. This evening exists for reunions, before the celebration. No schedule, no rush.
The ceremony takes place in the gardens or in the grand salon. The reception follows, with no closing time dictated by another event. Nothing is dismantled, nothing is moved. When night falls, the Manoir does not close: the people who matter are already inside.
Brunch. Coffee. The conversations that only happen the morning after a wedding. You leave when you are ready.

The estate
Ceremony, cocktails, dinner and the night all fit on half an acre in the historic quarter of Châteauguay. Nobody gets back on the road between the ceremony and the reception, or after the last dance.

6,500 square feet, yours alone: the grand salon with its Italian marble floor and hand-carved fireplace, two dining rooms, the private cinema.
Fourteen guests sleep on site. Every piece of furniture was found one by one, nothing ordered in series. Organic cotton percale bedding, two pillow styles to choose from.
24 feet by 64, sixteen feet to the ceiling, on a permanent stone terrace. Beside it, five thousand square feet of garden for the ceremony.
A dining room, and many other occasions. Its tall wooden cabinet is filled with everything the art of hosting calls for.
500 square feet of professional kitchen, open to the caterer of your choice, from our address book or introduced by you.
A team on site from the first evening to the last morning.
Bone china, French crystal glassware and silver, yours to use all weekend inside the Manoir.

The estate is in Châteauguay, on the South Shore of Montreal. Here is the trip from where your guests are most likely to start.
Thirty minutes from downtown, and the same from Montréal-Trudeau airport.
A little over two hours by Highway 417, the 40 and the 30. Or VIA Rail to Montreal in about two hours, then thirty minutes by car.
About five and a half hours by road, or a short flight to Montréal-Trudeau, thirty minutes from the estate.
About an hour and a quarter from Cornwall, about three hours from Kingston. The Montreal train stops in Cornwall.

Yes. Quebec has no residency requirement for marriage, and a marriage celebrated here is recognized across Canada. Your officiant must be authorized to celebrate marriages in Quebec, and a notary is the usual choice for a civil ceremony. The officiant publishes a notice of marriage on the website of the Directeur de l'état civil at least twenty days before the ceremony, and the wedding must take place within three months of that notice. Settle this early, because those twenty days cannot be shortened. We can recommend an officiant who works in English.
Your guests and you will need a valid passport at the border. Montréal-Trudeau is the nearest airport, thirty minutes from the estate. Contracts are in Canadian dollars, and Quebec's two sales taxes appear on them, the same way they would at a Montreal hotel. The estate's team works in English, and so do the suppliers we recommend. Your marriage certificate is issued by the Directeur de l'état civil of Quebec.
